SEPTEMBER 2003
1 - 12 September 2003 Antalya, Turkey
NATO-Advance Study Institute (ASI) Nanoengineered Nanofibrous Materials The ASI on "Nanoengineered Nanofibrous Materials" will contribute to the dissemination of state-of-the-art knowledge about the application of nanoengineered nanofibers, including nanotubes, nanobelts and nanowires, in energy and electronic industries. The underlying physics and chemistry of the phenomena responsible for the unique properties of nano-sized one-dimensional materials will be analyzed and discussed. Carbon nanotubes and polymeric nanofibers will be addressed primarily, but the whole range of nanostructured fibrous materials will be covered.

8 - 10 September 8 2003 Washington DC, USA World Nano-Economic Congress
The World Nano-Economic Congress (WNEC) series of events have been jointly developed by IIR and CMP Cientifica to address the impact of nanotechnology on business. To date, none of the nanotechnology conferences on the market have done so adequately. The WNEC series will become the leading events for the cultivation and exploration of the commercial viability of nanotechnology, informing each vertical industry sector of its impact on their business as well as the value of investing in and purchasing nanotech solutions. WNEC will take place annually in Europe, North America and Asia

5th Annual SCIENCE MEETS PARLIAMENT
SmP Day is an annual event where scientists and Parliamentarians meet at Parliament House over an entire day to discuss science and its importance to the nation. FASTS arranges the appointments for pairs of scientists to meet MP's and Senators. Up to 200 scientists discuss their work with over two-thirds of Parliamentarians to raise the profile of science and emphasise its fundamental contributions to our future. Prior to the meetings day on October 15th, FASTS will host a briefing event on the14th where scientists will meet their partners, discuss policy material and hear from experienced scientists, lobbyists, parliamentary staffers and politicians themselves about how they can engage politicians successfully.
